TALA’s in-person assisted living manager’s course October 8-10, 2025, in New Braunfels, had a highly involved group of attendees. Great conversations were had while attendees learned from industry leaders about the latest in Texas regulations and administrative best practices. Thank you, Representative Candy Noble, for joining TALA's celebratory PAC event in Dallas, on November 7, to speak about recent legislative topics. Thank you to everyone that supports TALA’s work with legislators all over the state to strive for fair and consistent legislation for assisted living. Donate to support the TALAPAC under “Policy” on the TALA website. TALA hosted a TALAConnect in Houston, January 29th, with a great turnout. TALAConnect is TALA’s series of networking events for members. 300 doors knocked! 50,000 steps walked! On Saturday, February 2th, TALA hosted a volunteer event for individuals to block-walk in support of Representative Lacy Hull, pictured top middle in red, who chairs the Committee for Human Services in the Texas House of Representatives. A special thank you to TALA Board Member Nicole Gasaway, Discovery Senior Living, for coming out and walking with us. TALA's VP of Public Policy Carmen Tilton attends Argentum's Public Policy Institute and Fly-In on Wednesday, February 25th, in Washington DC. Tilton, along with other senior living leaders, attended several meetings with Texas legislators and their staff at the nation’s capital. The group met to introduce Representative Howard to senior living leaders in her district. TALA was honored to join Texas elected officials, lobbyists, government staff, and leaders in cancer research at Pink Granite's Party with a Purpose on May 7th, in observance of World Ovarian Cancer Day. TALA’s President and CEO Diana Martinez met with fellow state senior living organization leaders at Argentum’s Senior Living Executive Conference in Nashville. Diana Martinez, TALA President and CEO, spoke on a panel regarding “2026 Emerging State Legislative and Regulatory Issues with National Implications” at Argentum’s Senior Living Executive Conference in Nashville. Diana shared some Texas developments from recent years, what’s on the horizon for the upcoming 2027 legislative session, how national trends impact Texas, and TALA’s approach, including maintaining key relationships and diving into local governance. TALA’s Workforce Development Advisor Rose Saenz attended the UT Tyler School of Nursing Career Fair. Over 100 nursing students came through the event. Many students were not aware of the career paths and opportunities available in senior living but left with newfound ideas for their professional paths.
